Ridegwood Village Chicopee, Massachusetts
Ridgewood Village was created out of 44 acres of former military housing belonging to Westover Air Force Base.
Two-hundred-and-sixty-four units of existing housing were completely rehabilitated, "soup to nuts." Extensive site development was done to create usable open spaces, new parking and a system of walkways to link and define these new outdoor spaces. The walkways are, by themselves, a recreational amenity.
A community center, with swimming pool and tennis court, round out the recreational resources provided.
All housing units are single-story. Each building is typically comprised of three or four units.
Alterations and additoions were added to certain buildings to create a greater variety of homestyles. New infill buildings were also added in various locations to round out the site development.
In all, approximately 20 different unit styles were available for sale.
